1986 – Egersdorf Tops ‘Silver 1,000’

Proctor, Minn. (August 26, 1986) – Rick Egersdorf of St. Paul, was the winner of the 14th annual Silver 1,000 at Proctor Speedway Tuesday night.

Ron Schreiner of Eleva, Wis., took the lead on the first lap after which Egersdorf took command on lap 2 and led the next 24 laps.

Rick Aukland of Fargo, N.D., also got by Schreiner and made his charge on Egersdorf. Racing bumper-to-bumper, Aukland then took over the top spot on lap 26 when Egersdorf got caught up in slower traffic. Aukland led until lap 38 when he too got caught up in lapped traffic, allowing Egersdorf to slip by. Egersdorf led the final two laps to take the victory.
