Monticello, Iowa (August 26, 1967) – Red Droste of Waterloo won the modified stock car feature at the Great Jones County Fair on Saturday afternoon before a standing-room-only crowd.
Droste dominated the 20-lap feature on the half-mile dirt oval, picking up all the marbles over John Connolly of Delhi and Tom Hughes of Monticello.
Heat wins went to Ernie Cook of Goose Lake, Jerry Reinhart of Moline, Ill., and Ed Sanger of Waterloo. Reinhart collected his second victory of the afternoon with a checkered flag in the semi-main. Ora Pearson of Iowa City was the consolation winner.
