Darreld Bunkofske
Algona, Iowa (August 22, 1969) – Darreld Bunkofske of Algona won the season championship feature Friday at Kossuth Speedway.
He started out front and stayed there for the entire 20 lap feature, holding off point leader Gene Schattschneider, also of Algona. Del Stokke of Ames was third followed by Dick Simpson of Irvington.
The B-main was won by Dennis Hovinga of Laurens as he battled off a trio of cars to grab the checkers. Larry McGee of Boone, Larry Ringham of Mason City, and Ron Schwartz of Boone were nose-to-tail behind Hovinga at the finish line.
“Shatzy” won the trophy dash over McGee, Schawartz, and Bunkofske.
Don Hiscocks of Britt won the handicap over Roy Jo Peltz of Humboldt for his second trophy of the year.
Heat winners were Schattschneider, McGee, and John Nesbitt of Humboldt.
