West Liberty, Iowa (August 5, 1967) – John Mullink of West Liberty was the top man in town Saturday night as he led all 18 laps to win the Mississippi Valley Speed Club feature at the Muscatine County Fairgrounds before 3,000.
And, for his efforts, Mullink also earned a free trip for two to Florida courtesy of Wynn’s Friction Proofing.
“I was pretty happy tonight," Mullink said from victory lane. “The track was awful hard and slick tonight. Eighteen laps tonight seemed a lot longer.”
John Moss of Iowa City was a close second tonight with Mark Mosier an even closer third, right on Moss’s rear bumper the entire time. Bud Darting of Wilton Junction was fourth and Tom Stewart of Washington finished fifth.
Heat winners were Mark Mosier, John Moss, Bob Smith of Mt. Pleasant, and Bud Darting. The semi-main Tom Harris of Iowa City.
All winners received a jacket from Wynn’s Friction Proofing.
