Darl Harrison won the 25-lap IMCA sprint car feature at the Knox County Fair. Harrison would go on to win the IMCA national sprint car title for 1969.
Knoxville, Ill. (August 2, 1969) - Darl Harrison of Tiffin, Ohio, fattened his International Motor Contest Association point lead, winning the 25-lap sprint car feature on the half-mile track at the 116th annual Knox County Fair before 3,700 fans.
The Harrison victory copped two nights of spectacular IMCA sprint car racing with over 30 cars on hand from all parts of the United States and Canada. Lyn McIntosh of Fort Williams, Ontario, Canada made his first appearance and won a heat race on Friday.
Following Harrison across the finish line were Benny Rapp of Toledo, Ohio, Jerry Blundy of Galesburg, Ill., Jay Woodside of Kansas City, and Buzz Rose of Lomita, Calif.
Heat winners were Woodside, Bill Utz of Sedalia, Mo., and Don Daniels of St. Paul, Minn. Rose won the STP dash and Harrison was also the consolation winner.
