Marshalltown, Iowa (July 22, 1969) – Jerry LeCroy of Marshalltown stretched out nearly a quarter-lap lead to nab the late model feature at Marshalltown on Tuesday night.
The lead changed hand several times between LeCroy and Larry DeFrance from Marshalltown also trying to make his bid for the top money. LeCroy’s victory put him two feature wins ahead of Joel Rasmussen for the season.
Dominating the late model racing card was LeCroy, Dale DeFrance, and Mike Keen of Marshalltown – all three drivers were double winners.
Joel Rasmussen of Gilbert, who had to settle for fourth in the feature, came through with a win in the second heat.
In the sportsman division, John Clark of Marshalltown won his heat and thee feature race. Carroll Menter of Marshalltown and Jon Schroyer of Laurels were the other heat winners.
Tuesday was special in some respects. It was the first race of the second half of the season. It’s also the first race held on the new racing date for Marshalltown Speedway.
