Brownstown, Ind. (August 21, 1987) – Billy Moyer Jr. of Batesville, Ark., took the lead on the 17th lap from John Gill and led the final 83 circuits in lapping the entire field except for the second-place car to win the Jackson 100 at Brownstown Speedway on Saturday night.
Moyer collected $11,000 in winning the eighth annual late model event.
Moyer finished well ahead of Jeff Purvis of Clarksville, Tenn., the only other driver to finish on the lead lap. C.J. Rayburn finished third with Steve Barnett fourth and Donnie Moran fifth.
To get to the feature, the top three from each heat race had to advance through qualifying heat races. Kevin Claycomb, Purvis, Randy Boggs, Donnie Moran, and Jim Curry were heat winners.
In the B-semi, Brian Leslie and Kevin Gundaker advanced to the A-semi. In the A-semi, the top four finishers - Larry Moore, Kevin Weaver, C.J. Rayburn, and Paul Shafer - advanced to the 24-car main event.
A total of 92 late models were on hand for the program.
